Degree Enhancement Program

Degree Enhancement Program

When you graduate with your Kellogg MBA, you will be equipped with a strong academic background and finely honed practical skills. It has been Kellogg’s philosophy that education and professional development are part of a life-long learning process. We hope that when students graduate from Kellogg they will continue learning. To that end, the Degree Enhancement Program (DEP) allows you to take up to eight (8) Kellogg credits (combination of 0.5 and 1.0 credit courses), free of charge, in the three academic years following your graduation. It is an excellent opportunity to explore a new interest, pursue an extra major, and develop your skills.

Registration is performed by the Academic Experience Team. Students who have graduated will receive an email communication at their preferred email address on file with the Alumni Office approximately 1-3 weeks prior to the start of the quarter.  Students must complete this registration request form, starting on March 13, 2024, at 12 pm, to indicate their interest in courses based on the quarterly list of available courses.

Procedure for Class Enrollment

  • Complete the Registration Holds requirements if you already have an active student record or as soon as your student record becomes active (you will be notified once your record is activated).
  • Review the Spring 2024 Course Offering List.
  • Complete the Spring 2024 DEP Enrollment Form starting on March 13 at 12:00PM (this registration e-form request will close on March 29, 2024 at 12:00PM (Friday of week 1).

Spring 2024 Quarter Dates:

Spring 2024 classes take place from Monday March 25 – June 1, 2024. Final exams will take place from May 31 – June 8.

Registration will begin on a first-come, first-served basis no later than March 15, 2024.

Registration will be processed after all registration holds have been resolved. If you have any unresolved registration holds, your registration request will not be processed.

Upon entry into the Degree Enhancement Program, an Evening & Weekend MBA Program graduate will sign an agreement stating that they will abide by the Kellogg Honor Code and the following program guidelines:

  • Students may begin taking DEP classes the following quarter after the degree is completed and conferred.
  • Courses may be taken during the current academic year in which they complete their degree requirements (if completion occurs prior to summer quarter) and through three academic years following graduation from Kellogg. For example, a student who completes in Spring 2023 can take DEP courses during Summer 2023 and through the 2025-26 academic year.
  • DEP participants will be allowed to enroll in open-seat classes after all Kellogg degree-seeking students have registered.
  • Students in the DEP program do not participate in the Bidding and Registration process. They will be registered manually by the Academic Experience team, and registration will be accommodated on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • All holds must be cleared from the student record before class registration can occur.
  • Once enrolled in a course, the DEP student must satisfy the same requirements as any other student in the course. DEP students cannot use the Pass/No Credit option.
  • Students who drop between the 3rd and 10th week of any class forfeit their opportunity to register for any future courses offered in the program.
  • Auditing of courses is not permitted after graduation.
  • The final grade received in the course will be included on the DEP participants’ existing Northwestern University transcript and cumulative grade point average. As a result, courses taken with the Degree Enhancement Program can be used to satisfy requirements for additional majors to the participant’s MBA.
  • Kellogg reserves the right to withdraw a student from the program at any time.
  • Kellogg will evaluate the Degree Enhancement Program on an annual basis and reserves the right to change or cancel the program at any time.
  • For students wishing to complete a major through the DEP program, please reach out to the Academic Experience Team after all grades have been recorded for relevant courses. An audit will be conducted, and the major will be added to their record if requirements are met.
